This part of GB/T 3098 specifies the mechanical and physical properties of nuts with coarse and fine threads made of carbon steel or alloy steel when tested at an ambient temperature of 10 °C to 35 °C. In this ambient temperature range, nuts complying with the technical requirements of this part may not meet the specified mechanical and physical properties at higher or lower temperatures. Nuts applicable to this section: a) Made of carbon steel or alloy steel; b) Coarse thread specification: M5≤D≤M39, and fine thread specification: M8×1≤D≤M39×3; c) Conforming to GB Ordinary thread specified in /T 192; d) Combination of diameter and pitch in accordance with GB/T 193 and GB/T 9144; e) Specified performance level and guaranteed load; f) Specified three types of thin nuts, standard nuts and high nuts Nut type; g) nut height mmin≥0.45D; h) outer diameter or width across sides smin≥1.45D (see Appendix A); i) performance and specified performance level (GB/ T 3098.1) for use with bolts, screws and studs. See GB/T 5267.3 for technical requirements on the surface treatment of hot-dip galvanized nuts. This part does not specify the following performance requirements: -- Effective torque type locking performance (see GB/T 3098.9); -- Torque-clamping force performance (see GB/T 16823.3 for test methods); -- Weldability; -- corrosion resistance.
