Scope

This chapter in GB 14536.1 is applicable except for the following contents. 1.1 Replacement: This standard applies to the assessment of thermal protection of ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps. This section applies to thermal protectors using PTC and NTC thermistors, see Appendix J for additional requirements. See GB 19510.1 for the test requirements when ballasts and thermal protectors are assembled together. 1.1.1 This part applies to the inherent safety of ballast protectors, to operating values, operating times and operating procedures related to equipment safety, and to tests of thermal protectors for preventing overheating of ballasts for tubular fluorescent lamps. This section applies to ballast thermal protectors within the scope of GB 19510.9. The thermal protectors covered by this section are also applicable to other discharge lamps within the scope of GB 19510.10. 1.1.2 This section does not apply to other devices protecting ballasts. 1.1.3 This section does not apply to manual devices for breaking circuits. 1.2 Replacement: This part applies to the protectors for ballasts used in the frequency 50Hz or 60Hz, the voltage not exceeding AC 690V power supply. 1.3 Replacement: This standard does not specify the response value of the automatic operation of the protector related to the method of installation of the protector in the equipment. If the response value is meaningful for the protection of the user and the surrounding environment, then the response value specified in the corresponding equipment standard or determined by the manufacturer is applicable in this standard.
