Scope
This part of GB/T 5169 stipulates: a) General rules for preselection tests; b) Evaluation guidelines for the validity, relevance and limitations of data obtained from preselected fire tests compared with data obtained from fire tests for risk assessment. Fire hazard assessment tests on the final product should be given priority; however, in some cases, the parties concerned may also agree to use pre-selection tests for practical reasons. It is one of the tasks of standardization technical committees to make use of these basic safety publications, where applicable, when preparing their own publications. The examples of test methods listed in Appendix A include the combustion characteristics tests specified in the international test methods of IEC and ISO.
